Bass Valley Camping Ground, En-route to Mornington Peninsular
On Thursday the 14th Feb, we left Yanakie and headed
for the Bass Valley Camping Ground near Poowong. On the way we dropped in to Fish Creek and had
a coffee. The reason we went there is that it rated a mention by the author in
Lonely Planet about being a place worth visiting for its bohemian flavor. There
was an art gallery. That was about it.
Further along the road we stopped at Meeniyan. There was a
craft/fair thing happening on the weekend. There was a yard which displayed a
large number sculptures, metal and wooden. They were amazing but we were not
allowed to take any photos.
Then onto the free camp. The Bass Valley Camping
Ground was surrounded by some beautiful farmland. It was a very windy and narrow
road to get there but it wasn’t out of the way and it was sealed. It was a nice
stay overnight.
